Building Project Update
Capital Building Works
Last week, some of the new building works in the Kinder, Prep and Year 1 classrooms have been handed over, with a small amount of finishing off happening. The newly refurbished spaces have extended each classroom with a student support room in each. Each classroom will open onto a new verandah in coming months. Our new three new classrooms and maintenance shed are progressing steadily.
Winter Uniforms
As we begin Term 2, please note that students are now expected to transition from the Summer to the Winter uniform.
We have observed that some students are still wearing short-sleeved items, which are part of the Summer uniform. We kindly ask that you ensure your child is dressed in the appropriate Winter uniform pieces moving forward.
Uniform Schedule:
- Kindergarten: Sport uniform every day
- Prep to Year 6:
- Monday, Wednesday, Friday: Academic uniform
- Tuesday & Thursday: Sport uniform
- Please note: Students in Prep to Year 2 have the option to wear the sport uniform every day if preferred.
Our Winter uniform is as follows:
Girls' Academic Uniform | Boys’ Academic Uniform | Sport Uniform |
White long sleeve blouse Winter pinafore Winter skirt Bottle elastic back pants Wool jumper Soft shell jacket Navy tights / Navy socks Plain black shoes |
Green long sleeve shirt Grey elastic trouser Grey elastic short Wool jumper Soft shell jacket Navy socks Plain black shoes |
Short sleeve polo Long sleeve polo Sport shorts Skort (girls) Track pants Rugby Jersey Plain navy socks Sport shoes |
School beanies can be worn in terms 2 & 3 and are available for purchase from the school office for $16.00. Hats are not required during terms 2 and 3. School ties can be worn, but are not compulsory.
Our uniform policy can be viewed on our school website. Our uniform is sold at the Midford shop in Devonport, or it can be purchased online at https://www.midford.com.au/school-shops-online.
If you need support in purchasing uniforms for your child, or need any further clarification please do not hesitate to contact myself or Tameka Harris on 6426 1626.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping our students wear the correct uniform with pride.
COVID 19, Cold and FluCOVID confirmed cases
Staff or students who test positive or who display acute COVID-related symptoms are not to enter a school until their symptoms have gone or have significantly resolved e.g. they have not had a fever (or signs of fever such as chills or night sweats) for at least 24 hours.COVID-19 testing
Staff or students with respiratory illness symptoms should stay home and test for COVID-19. If the initial test result is negative and symptoms continue, staff and students are advised to take a second test the following day.
Registration of positive tests, whilst no longer required, is recommended particularly for those persons who may wish to access health services such as COVID anti-viral treatments or COVID @ home.
Staff and students who test positive for COVID-19 but who are asymptomatic can enter a school.
Colds and flu
Staff or students with cold or flu symptoms should stay home and test using a rapid antigen test for two consecutive days. If the person tests negative on successive days for COVID-19 and their symptoms are mild e.g. a runny nose but no coughing or sneezing, then it is OK for the person to be at school.
ParkingThank you to our school community for supporting the school during the building works. I understand parking can be challenging at drop off and pick up time. Parking is available on streets surrounding the school including Last Street and Gilbert Street. Please do not park across footpaths as this forces pedestrians to walk onto the road. Please be mindful of short term parking spaces in front of the school. Parents use these spaces to drop off and pick up children from childcare and usually have children’s belongings to carry.
Please note: Police have advised that the parking spot marked with an X must be left available for residents to be able to exit their premises safely.
Have a great week!

Principal.

The course will be conducted at St.Patrick’s, with students commencing next to the basketball court and finishing on the school oval. Each year level will complete a specially designed course of varied lengths for their year level group. Students from Year 3 - 6 will be selected from this carnival to attend the North West Catholic Primary School Cross Country Carnival at Stalla Maris, Burnie on Friday 16th May.
Please be mindful when walking near or through the course that you are not walking in front of a competitor.

Games may be rostered on the Friday night (4th July) through to the finals on Sunday afternoon (6th July) *This is the beginning of the Term 2 school holidays. Games may be played in Devonport, East Devonport and possibly SBSC over this weekend.
The team registration cost is $200 per team and will be the responsibility of the teams to cover. If a child is not currently registered with Basketball Tasmania, there will be an additional cost of $10.00 per child. (link for payment to follow on confirmation of teams). There will be no cost for players or spectators for entry to the tournament.
Our participation in this tournament will rely on parent commitment as parents will be required to coach, manage, complete bench and canteen duty over the weekend. Each team will be required to nominate a coach, a manager, and their own referee to register a team. All coaches and managers will need to hold a Working with Vulnerable People registration.
If your child is interested in playing and you are able to support this commitment, could you please complete the Google form by Friday, 23rd May.
